Android in the age of artificial intelligence

To compete in the AI future, Google’s mobile platform will need to change slightly.

The last few months have demonstrated one thing unequivocally: phones are unbeatable.

The AI devices that were meant to free us from our phones have come tragically undercooked – whatever hopes we had that the Humane AI pin or the Rabbit R1 would provide any relief from the continual rug burn of dealing with our personal technology have vanished. Hot gadget. Spring is ended, and developer season begins this Tuesday with Google I/O.

It is also a watershed moment in Android history. I/O follows a big reorganization that brought Google’s Android and hardware teams together for the first time. The order is clear: sprint full speed ahead.
